Our goal was to craft a brand that locals could feel truly proud of, something that captured the spirit and hospitality of the region while drawing in visitors from surrounding cities and beyond. The identity blends classic Southern charm with a modern sensibility, expressed through elegant typography, layered messaging, and a versatile logo system.
From murals and merch to wayfinding and web, the brand is designed to grow alongside the development—anchoring new restaurants, retail, and experiences in a sense of place that feels both rooted and ready for what’s to come.
Caravan created the name and brand identity for The Southerly, a large-scale adaptive reuse project in historic downtown Opelika, Alabama. Conceived as a central gathering place and cultural anchor, The Southerly is more than just a destination, it’s a reflection of the community itself.

Caravan created the name and brand identity for Lil Darlin, a boutique stay-and-play hotel nestled in the heart of downtown Opelika, Alabama.
Inspired by a sweet nickname the owner uses for her granddaughter, the brand is equal parts personal, playful, and packed with charm. Designed to feel like a love letter to retro hospitality, the visual language is full of bold color, vintage cues, and energetic typography. From cheeky taglines like “A lil sweet, a lil sassy, always a darlin,” to custom totes, signage, and cozy, design-forward interiors, every detail invites guests to feel right at home. Bright, welcoming, and a little nostalgic, Lil Darlin is more than a place to stay, it’s a place to remember.
